I enjoy baking and letting my geek flag fly. Combining the two has given me some serious points with my fiancée. I try to make him fun cupcakes for his birthday and to keep him guessing on which fandom I'm going to use next. I'm not telling yet what my plans are for his birthday this year, but I'll show you the cupcakes from past celebrations.

Went with the command, engineer, and science officers colours
This was the first time I worked with fondant and it was really fun! Once it warms up in your hands it becomes really easy to work with. I started with white and dyed the colours myself. I meant to add edible silver glitter to the symbols but it was sadly out of stock.

The goomba is my favourite
I kept with the fondant for my Super Mario theme but added more detail. I wanted to give some love to the aspects of Mario that aren't always given the love they deserve. Again, I dyed the fondant for each piece and had a lot of fun creating the characters and items.

I wonder what starter I'll get
These cupcakes were fun but I changed my process. I used regular icing instead of placing a fondant circle on top of the iced cupcake. Dying regular icing is much more difficult than dying fondant. It looked like a blood bath with the amount of dye I had to use to get that true red. I will always buy pre-coloured icing when trying to make red from now on. Pinky promise. These cupcakes were awesome because I also dyed the batter so there were blue, green, and red cupcakes underneath the pokeball iced top. Each of our friends grabbed a cupcake and revealed their starter Pokemon- red for fire type, blue for water type, and green for grass type.
Did you have a favourite show that you would want a cupcake of? Let me know in the comments.
